1. Introduction and acceptance
Kaptr.me is a web application and Chrome extension operated and commercialized by ActivMedia Diffusion, a French company. These Terms govern access to and use of the Kaptr.me service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any additional conditions clearly presented for an optional feature or purchase.
If you do not agree with the applicable terms, do not use the service.
2. Account registration, age and user responsibilities
You must provide accurate account information, keep your credentials confidential, and remain responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise. You must not share credentials in a way that compromises another person's data or circumvents an entitlement.
You must be at least 15 years old to use the Kaptr.me Chrome extension without parental or legal-guardian authorization. Users below that age may use it only where the required authorization has been obtained and local law permits it. Kaptr.me may restrict an account when it reasonably determines that applicable age or authorization requirements are not met.
3. Service description and use
Kaptr.me lets you capture selected visual regions from websites or applications, save the resulting screenshots as snapshots, organize them in dashboards, refresh compatible sources, retain snapshot history where included, annotate or redesign dashboards, and use sharing, export, embed or AI features according to your plan or lifetime entitlement.
Feature presentation and technical implementation may evolve. Capacity and commercial limits are shown in the current pricing, checkout or account interface, except where a separate lifetime, promotional or legacy entitlement applies.
4. Geographic availability
Kaptr.me is intended to be available internationally, but a feature may be unavailable or restricted in a jurisdiction where legal, regulatory, provider or technical requirements prevent its operation. Users are responsible for complying with laws that apply to their own use of the service.
The primary Firebase data layer used for saved Kaptr.me account and dashboard content is configured in Europe. Optional services, particularly AI processing, may create additional processing or transfer paths as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Local browser sessions, capture and refresh
For extension-based local capture and local refresh, Kaptr.me uses the browser session already available on the device performing the action. Source-site passwords, authentication cookies and the authenticated browser session are not uploaded to Kaptr.me so that the service can recreate that login on another computer.
This means a protected page can refresh only when the browser performing the refresh can itself access that source. If another computer is not signed in to the source, installing the extension there does not reproduce the authenticated session from the first computer.
When you choose to save a capture, the screenshot and the metadata required to operate it in your dashboard are sent to Kaptr.me and stored in the cloud. A saved snapshot is therefore distinct from the local browser session used to access its source.
6. Captured content, user content and third-party rights
You retain the rights you already hold in content you create. You grant Kaptr.me the limited rights necessary to host, process, reproduce and display content you submit so the service can perform the actions you request.
You are responsible for ensuring that content you capture, store, annotate or share can lawfully be used in that way. In particular, you must consider copyright, trademarks, privacy, confidentiality, contractual restrictions, access rights, and the terms of the source website or application.
Kaptr.me does not obtain ownership of third-party content merely because it appears in a snapshot. Rights in third-party pages, brands, documents, dashboards and other source material remain with their respective owners.
7. Private, shared and public dashboards
New dashboards are private by default. A dashboard can be changed to Shared so that access is limited to specifically invited Kaptr.me accounts. A person who is not signed in with an invited account cannot use the shared link to view that dashboard.
A dashboard can also be made Public. Public access and search-engine indexing are separate settings: a public dashboard can be used as a link for a forum, message or website while remaining non-indexed when the indexing option is disabled.
You are responsible for the information you choose to disclose through Shared or Public modes and for obtaining any permissions required to disclose third-party or personal data.
8. Content restrictions, moderation and reporting
Kaptr.me may block or remove content, prevent a capture, disable sharing, or suspend an account when reasonably necessary to address illegal content, sexually explicit or age-restricted content, intellectual-property infringement, privacy violations, abuse, security risks, or other material prohibited by applicable law or platform policy.
An intentionally blocked capture is not necessarily a technical failure. If you identify potentially unlawful or infringing public content, report it to contact@kaptr.me and include the relevant dashboard or URL and enough context to investigate.
9. AI features, remote processing and AI credits
AI features create a separate processing boundary from local extension capture. Content deliberately submitted to an AI feature, or content found and captured by an AI workflow before being inserted into a dashboard, may be processed remotely, may be accessible to authorized human reviewers, and may be used to train, evaluate or improve AI systems as described in the Privacy Policy.
Some AI operations consume AI credits. Credits are metered usage units for remote AI processing and are separate from entitlement to the Kaptr.me product feature itself. Current credit prices, consumption and any included allowance are shown in the applicable product or purchase interface.
10. Privacy, security and data protection
The Privacy Policy describes the categories of data processed, purposes and legal bases, browser-session boundary, stored snapshots, service providers, AI processing, data retention, international transfers and applicable data-protection rights. The Security page provides a product-level explanation of the same local/cloud boundary.
Kaptr.me uses technical and organizational measures appropriate to the service, including HTTPS in transit, provider-managed encryption for stored Firebase data, authentication controls and dashboard access controls. No internet service can promise absolute security.
11. Fees, payments and subscriptions
Certain features are paid. Prices, taxes, billing cadence and the main characteristics of the selected plan are presented before purchase. Subscription payments are processed through the payment flow made available by Kaptr.me, including Stripe where used.
Consumers may have statutory withdrawal rights. Where applicable law allows the immediate performance of a digital service to affect the withdrawal right, any express request or acknowledgement required by law must be collected in the purchase flow. Nothing in these Terms, by itself, removes a mandatory consumer right.
12. Cancellation, renewal and refunds
Unless a different offer states otherwise, cancelling a recurring subscription prevents the next renewal and paid subscription access continues until the end of the already-paid billing period. Kaptr.me makes available the electronic cancellation method required for subscriptions concluded online under applicable consumer law. Billing support can also be contacted at contact@kaptr.me.
Refunds are handled in accordance with the purchased offer and mandatory law. Billing errors, duplicate charges and situations where applicable law requires reimbursement remain eligible for review. Statutory rights are not limited by a statement that a payment is otherwise non-refundable.
Accounting and payment records may be retained for 10 years from the transaction date where required by French tax and accounting law, even after an account or subscription ends.
13. AppSumo lifetime licenses
Campaign period: April 2024 – September 2024.
Eligible Tier 1 and Tier 2 lifetime licenses purchased during the 2024 AppSumo campaign remain governed by the commitments attached to the purchased deal. Kaptr.me honors the features and feature limits expressly promised with those lifetime licenses, including a product limit described as unlimited where that was part of the original entitlement.
When commercial plan names or packaging change, the lifetime entitlement is not silently replaced by the limits of a later public subscription plan. AppSumo licenses remain personal and non-transferable except where the original deal or mandatory law expressly provides otherwise. Resale, rental, sublicensing, credential sharing or assignment of the license to another account or person is not permitted unless the original deal or mandatory law expressly allows it.
AI feature access and recurring AI-processing credits are separate concepts. The original lifetime purchase did not promise an unlimited or automatically replenishing quantity of AI-processing credits. An eligible lifetime account can retain the product features promised to it while remote AI actions use separately acquired credits or another expressly granted AI allowance. Purchasing AI credits does not convert, cancel or replace the underlying lifetime license.
If the account does not reflect the entitlement linked to an AppSumo order, contact contact@kaptr.me from the email associated with the purchase.
14. Kaptr.me software and intellectual property
Kaptr.me's software is developed by Adem Ben Jabria, software architect and full-stack developer responsible for its end-to-end software architecture, frontend and backend development, and technical integrations.
Except for third-party and open-source components, provider technologies, user content and other third-party material, Kaptr.me's original source code, software architecture, product logic and interface implementation are attributed to Adem Ben Jabria. ActivMedia Diffusion operates and commercializes the service.
An account, subscription or lifetime entitlement grants a right to use the service under the applicable offer and these Terms. It does not transfer ownership of the original Kaptr.me software.
15. Service responsibilities and technical limitations
Kaptr.me aims to keep the extension and application operational, but websites, browser versions, authentication mechanisms, third-party APIs, network services and security policies change independently. Kaptr.me cannot guarantee compatibility with every site, uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that a third-party page will always render identically when captured or refreshed.
Kaptr.me is not responsible for failures caused solely by third-party services, source-site changes, unsupported browser behavior, loss of access to a source, or misuse of the service. Report reproducible service problems to support so they can be investigated.
16. Changes to the service and these Terms
Kaptr.me may update the service and these Terms to reflect technical, product, legal or security changes. Material changes that adversely affect contractual rights will be communicated as required by applicable law. Changes to packaging or implementation do not remove an express lifetime entitlement already granted to an eligible AppSumo purchaser.
17. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Kaptr.me is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without a guarantee that every website, browser or third-party service will remain compatible. Mandatory statutory warranties and consumer protections remain unaffected.
18. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Subject to mandatory law, Kaptr.me is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising solely from a third-party website, browser or provider change, user-published content, unauthorized source material, or use outside the intended purpose of the service.
19. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by French law. Mandatory consumer and jurisdiction rules that apply in a user's country of residence remain effective. Nothing in these Terms requires a consumer to waive a forum or protection that cannot lawfully be waived.
20. General provisions and contact
If a provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. Failure to enforce a provision immediately does not automatically waive it.
